Supporting Community Through Music

This June, your reusable bags and bulk containers support Confluence LGBT Chorus. Confluence is dedicated to building community, celebrating diversity, and uplifting LGBTQ+ voices throughout the Willamette Valley. Read on to find out how you can get involved!

What is Confluence?

Confluence: Willamette Valley LGBT Chorus is a non-auditioned community chorus committed to building bridges and honoring diversity through affirming the lives of the LGBTQ+ and allies in its music and community activities. With rehearsals in Salem, Confluence has members from throughout the Willamette Valley, from Salem to Eugene.

Building Community Loud and Proud Concert

This June, Confluence LGBT Chorus is performing Building Community: Loud & Proud. It has two shows in Salem on June 5 and 6 and one in Albany on June 7. Confluence is one of the leading LGBTQ choruses in Salem, Oregon. It brings together singers from across the Willamette Valley to celebrate community, inclusion, and the power of music. Through these performances, the chorus seeks to build connections and create a welcoming space for audiences and performers alike.

A Chorus for Everyone

Established in 2000, Confluence has grown from an initial 16 singers to around 50 today. Originally conceived as a statement of peaceful unification for people with a range of sexual expressions and gender identities, this inclusive community choir celebrates and affirms the lives of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and 2 Spirit individuals.

In addition, the chorus is open to anyone who can match pitch, including allies who believe in its mission and purpose. Today, the Willamette Valley LGBTQ choir continues to foster belonging through music and shared experiences. By bringing people together through performance and outreach, this vibrant LGBTQ music community in Oregon helps strengthen connections across the region.

How Your Donations Help

LifeSource’s June Nonprofit Partner

This June, all of our Bag Credit Donations will go directly to Confluence.

How do LifeSource Bag Credit Donations work?

LifeSource credits you 10¢ for each reusable bag you use, and 5¢ for each reusable bulk container. You can keep that credit if you want, or you can choose to direct it to the local nonprofit we’ve selected for the month. This month, it’s Confluence.

Small Donations Add Up

It depends how much our customers have allocated in Bag Credit Donations! But those nickels and dimes add up. In April, for example, we donated $956 to Salem Environmental Education. As soon as we’ve calculated the previous month’s total, we’ll post it on the big screen above the checkout lanes at the front of the store.
